Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at EverVet Partners. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures, exams, and treatments
  • Restrain and handle animals of various species for examination and treatment
  • Monitor and maintain patient records, including weights, medical history, and treatment plans
  • Operate radiology equipment and take digital photos of procedures and lesions
  • Run in-house laboratory specimens and record results in patient medical records
  • Prepare laboratory forms and specimens for out-of-office laboratories
  • Administer treatments, including medications, fluids, and injections, under the direction of a veterinarian or veterinary technician
  • Assist with monitoring anesthetized patients and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Shave animals for surgery and scrub surgical sites
  • Manage post-operative cleaning and preparation of packs
  • Complete progress forms for in-hospital and anesthetized patients
  • Keep patients comfortable, fed, watered, and clean
  • Log controlled drugs and setup medications
  • Monitor inventory, rotation, and expiration dates and report needs
  • Stock exam rooms, treatment rooms, and surgery rooms as necessary
  • Assist with ordering food, supplies, and medications as requested
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred
  • At least one year of experience in animal care or a related field
  • Experience handling a variety of animals
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Basic math and writing skills
  • Ability to express compassion and empathy
  • Basic understanding of diseases, medications, and anesthesia
  • Knowledge of computer software, including Infinity and Office programs
