About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Zoological Specialist. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food to our animals, monitoring their intake and adjusting as needed.
  • Clean and maintain our exhibits and support areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our animals.
  • Observe and report on animal behavior, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with veterinary treatments and procedures, including the capture and restraint of birds and the care of rehab birds.
  • Set up and maintain exhibits for breeding season, monitoring eggs and chicks and hand-rearing chicks as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service, assisting with tours and education programs.
  • Train and mentor other team members in shift duties and responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with birds.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a company driver's license.
  • Ability to complete CPR and Emergency First Aid training/certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to swim and work in/around water.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and push/pull 25 pounds.
  • Availability to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours.
