Overview of Duke University Hospital

Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke University Hospital is renowned for its exceptional patient care and is recognized as the top hospital in the state. As the largest facility within Duke Health, it boasts 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, alongside advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.

Position Highlights

This role is eligible for a significant commitment bonus and relocation assistance.

Work Schedule

Standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekend shifts required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate radiographic equipment to capture images of specific anatomical areas, ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols.
  • Communicate x-ray procedures effectively to patients.
  • Position patients appropriately for imaging, utilizing necessary support devices and protective gear.
  • Assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized radiographic procedures.
  • Process images accurately to ensure optimal quality and match them with relevant documentation for interpretation.
  • Manage radiographic procedure charges and modify orders as per established protocols.
  • Utilize the Image Archival System proficiently.
  • Provide educational support and training to affiliated radiology technology programs.
  • Orient new technologists to departmental practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program.

Experience

Level I: ARRT certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Level II: A minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist is required.

Level III: At least four years of experience in the specialty modality is necessary for promotion.

Certifications

BLS certification and ARRT certification in radiography are mandatory, with ARRT certification required within 18 months of hire.
