Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Fridays 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist will undertake various specialized tasks related to the nutritional assessment of patients receiving Parenteral (PN) and Enteral Nutrition (EN) in a home setting. This role involves close collaboration with the patient’s healthcare team, including prescribers and pharmacists, to ensure nutritional needs are met effectively. Responsibilities include:
- Providing consultations as requested by the healthcare team.
- Offering clinical oversight for patients on home EN and PN therapies.
- Supporting the enteral team with oversight and guidance.
- Utilizing evidence-based medical nutrition therapy resources.
- Counseling patients and caregivers on dietary therapy principles.
- Documenting nutrition counseling sessions in the Electronic Health Record.
- Delivering written nutritional assessments and updates to the pharmacy team and prescribing physician.
- Collaborating with sales to foster relationships with key accounts.
- Providing bedside education on nutrition programs and administration pumps when appropriate.
- Working with management to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Participating in mandatory training and compliance programs.
- Deferring patients to other services as necessary.
- Assisting in Medicare qualification for home EN and PN.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Foods and Nutrition from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a pharmacy or home health setting is advantageous.
- Registered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetics Registration / Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Experience as an outpatient or clinical dietitian is preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) is desirable.
