Petco Veterinary Technician Job Description

At Petco, we're passionate about providing exceptional care for pets and their owners. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality veterinary care and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent veterinary care to patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners
  • Represent the mission and values of Petco to all clients and partners
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia's
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctor and clients
Requirements:
  • College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located
  • At least 1-year previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassionate and sympathetic with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations
Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time.
