Job Summary

The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Properly identifies patients and assists them while offering a brief explanation of the procedures, preparing patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
  • Interviews patients for a complete medical history, reviewing in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history and recording medical history on requisitions.
  • Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols and evaluating technical quality of images.
  • Performs basic patient care functions, informing appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures as necessary.
  • Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies, documenting contrast administration in the MAR and maintaining assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire required in addition to current CPR certification.
Work Environment

The CT Technologist I works in a fast-paced environment with moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation, with frequent stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling in the daily operation of the CT department.
