We are seeking a highly qualified Instructor in Geography to join our team at the Ventura County Community College District. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, facilitating their academic or vocational objectives, and promoting student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geography, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, assessing student performance, and providing feedback to students. Additionally, you will participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in professional development opportunities.

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses
• Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills among students
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes
• Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes
• Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools
• Revise and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline or area of specialization

• Master's in geography OR Bachelor's in geography AND Master's in geology, history, meteorology, or oceanography OR the equivalent
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
