As a Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse, you will have the unique opportunity to profoundly influence the lives of patients battling cancer. Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold established Nursing Standards of Practice, which encompass assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Adhere to unit-specific protocols while administering medications and IV solutions in accordance with hospital policies.
- Evaluate the educational needs of patients and their families, developing and delivering tailored instruction. Document the effectiveness of educational efforts.
- Engage in departmental activities and committees, participate in ongoing professional development, and maintain an updated educational record.
- Facilitate patient care by delegating tasks to team members, assuming the role of charge RN when necessary, and demonstrating strong organizational and decision-making skills.
- Complete additional duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with all relevant responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Required: Current RN license. BSN is preferred. Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Oncology, and IV Therapy is advantageous. Certification in Oncology Chemotherapy and Biological Therapy is required within a specified timeframe. Basic Life Support Certification is mandatory.
Desired: Proficient IV insertion skills and a solid understanding of chemotherapeutic agents. Familiarity with central venous catheter devices and knowledge of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process and ICD-9 codes. Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
Work Environment:
This position is characterized by a generally pleasant working atmosphere with minimal physical demands. The role may involve light exertion and requires adherence to safety standards.
