Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at WVU Medicine. In this role, you'll be responsible for providing clinical respiratory therapy services in general patient care areas, as well as advanced patient care responsibilities and duties as deemed appropriate by the Director.
Responsibilities- Deliver bronchodilator medication, medical gas therapy, overnight sleep studies, and overnight pulse ox studies according to Department P/P manual.
- Perform EKGs, including evaluation of tracing quality per standard, and RT assessments, including proper medication and airway clearance devices.
- Respond to Code Blue and Rapid Responses per P/P, and provide airway management.
- Ensure supplies are obtained for patient use and credited to appropriate central supply cart.
- Perform quality assurance activities, including analysis of data to produce continuing quality improvement.
- Work with patient care team to facilitate transfer of patients in compliance with transfer standards.
- Work with patient care team to assure quality patient outcomes.
- Fulfill established responsibilities related to setting up instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Perform all respiratory therapy duties as defined by the licensed scope of practice.
- Take verbal orders from physicians.
- Graduate from an accredited program of Respiratory Therapy.
- Licensed by West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR).
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
- Two (2) years respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting.
