Job Summary

This role is responsible for assisting the Director in managing and procuring state-mandated and other required insurance, including workers' compensation, providing risk management consultation services, auditing departmental inventories, claims management, and additional projects necessary to manage and coordinate information related to the overall enterprise risk management and traditional risk management programs for the University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the University's workers compensation program, including assisting employees or their supervisors with the filing of employee claims and facilitating employee service through nurse case managers and adjusters.
  • Report and file University insurance claims with the Insurance Reserve Fund, outside insurance carriers, and Office of University Counsel, as deemed appropriate.
  • Support the Director in tracking and analyzing data related to the University's insurance claims and loss experience, for use in making risk management and loss control recommendations to administrators, directors and department managers to reduce claims potential.
  • Evaluate and maintain the University's insurance programs, analyzing claims data to identify and assess exposures across lines of business for selection of appropriate insurance products.
  • Assist the Director with reviewing and providing guidance to University departments concerning insurance-related questions, coverage issues, inventory control, and proper procedures for best risk management practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of the methods, organization, planning, and monitoring of risk management programs.
  • Ability to analyze data and information in making decisions and solving problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all University stakeholders.
