POSITION SUMMARY

The Culinary Supervisor is tasked with managing kitchen personnel, fostering their professional and spiritual development through training that aligns with our mission. This role requires advanced culinary expertise and collaboration with the Executive Chef to deliver meals that are both nutritious and appealing to our residents and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Staff Management:
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen staff.
  • Promote a culture of performance management among team members.
  • Foster a work environment that encourages unity and collaboration.
  • Lead staff with values that reflect our mission and vision, providing necessary training opportunities.
  • Support staff in their professional and spiritual growth through mentorship.
  • Conduct weekly team devotions and lead in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure staff adhere to professional standards.
Food Preparation and Management:
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards in food handling and storage.
  • Adhere to health department regulations and infection control measures.
  • Develop menus and recipes that prioritize quality, nutrition, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure safe food preparation and portion control.
  • Oversee food production for events and special occasions.
  • Accommodate dietary needs by working with the resident dietitian.
  • Manage inventory and ordering in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Provide leadership in the Executive Chef's absence.
  • Respond to resident requests and feedback effectively.
Participate in ongoing education and training.

Work collaboratively with supervisors, colleagues, and residents.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission and values.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Sous Chef or Lead Cook in a relevant environment.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
  • Current Food Handler's Permit.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Capability to read and follow recipes accurately.
  • Knowledge of food cost management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • Associate degree in culinary arts or related field.
EXPERIENCE
  • Four years of experience in high-volume food service.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
  • ServSafe Certification.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
  • Bilingual abilities.
  • Results-oriented leadership.
  • Experience in banquet service.
