Job Summary:

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Adjunct Faculty member to teach the First-Year Seminar course in the Division of Learning Sources. As a part-time temporary faculty member, you will play a crucial role in implementing the comprehensive mission of a community college by assessing, documenting, and improving student learning through instruction in the FYS course.

About the Position:

The First-Year Seminar course is an interactive course designed to increase student success at the College of Southern Maryland. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, assessing student learning, and contributing to the development of the course curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach the First-Year Seminar course to a diverse group of students
  • Assess and document student learning outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of the course curriculum
  • Mentor and support students in their academic and personal growth
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Master's degree preferred OR Bachelor's degree, with teaching experience in freshman-level courses
  • Teaching experience OR experience working as a teaching assistant or professional tutor
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and creativity for teaching
  • Ability to engage learners, adapt to changing student populations, and prioritize student success
