Our city operates under a council-manager form of government, and the City Attorney reports directly to the Mayor and advises the City Council, boards, commissions, and staff. The City Attorney's Office is a team of 16 professionals with an annual budget of $8,597 million.
We are looking for a hands-on, results-driven City Attorney with impeccable reputation, high expertise in municipal law, and a track record of delivering sound legal advice on contractual, regulatory, and litigation issues. The ideal candidate will be an engaging and energetic leader with a strong willingness to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, with at least 5 years of comparable experience in a public law senior management position. A juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the State Bar of California with admission to practice before the State of California and federal courts is required.
