Job Summary

As an Embroidery Specialist at Navy Exchange, you will be responsible for operating automatic embroidery machines with multiple sewing heads or needles controlled by a PC and computer software program to produce decorative patches, monogrammed articles, and NCTRF certified regulation name tapes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently operate and maintain the Embroidery Shop, ensuring timely completion of orders and high-quality results.
  • Receive and review written orders from customers and store employees, determining the type and location of embroidery required.
  • Produce cost estimates for customers using PC and automated computer software program, maintaining accurate records of all incoming orders and embroidery services provided.
  • Develop and create embroidery designs for customers using digitizing software, loading data onto a floppy disk and inserting it into the embroidery machine as per machine and software system requirements.
  • Operate automatic embroidery machines, placing fabric garments on manufacturers' hoops, loading hoops into the machine, and adjusting settings to select thread color, speed, depth, rotation, and movement of the needle.
  • Monitor machine performance, recognizing and addressing system malfunctions, and performing corrective actions to ensure optimal results.
  • Inspect each complete embroidery order, ensuring quality and accuracy, and may be required to redo customer orders.
  • Requisition and maintain adequate supplies of stock, ensuring adherence to correct procedures for receipt and storage of supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, following manufacturers' prescribed instructions, and ensure proper care and storage of materials.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working area, and may be required to operate a cash register, following established cash control procedures.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in services or retail sales store work, demonstrating the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
  • Progressively responsible experience in Retail Customer Service, Computer Operation, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Equipment Operations Technician, or other work performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with continual movement of hands, and exposure to loud noise.
