Respiratory Therapist

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide high-quality patient care, preparing and operating respiratory care equipment, and collaborating with physicians to develop treatment plans.

• Ensure accurate and complete physician prescriptions, comparing requests with medical record order forms and clarifying discrepancies with physicians.
• Provide prescribed respiratory therapy, performing vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, administering oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators.
• Monitor oxygen-supported ambulation, perform chest physical therapy, and provide nasotracheal or artificial airway suctioning.
• Maintain mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, testing for functioning, leaks, and alarms.
• Conduct quick extended and/or short self-tests on ventilators, remedying leaks, and replacing defective equipment.
• Report major equipment problems to management and perform related duties as required.

• Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
