Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter/EMT to join our team at Botetourt County, VA. As a Firefighter/EMT, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services, firefighting, and rescue operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide medical care to patients in need.
  • Operate fire apparatus and emergency medical vehicles, and perform firefighting and rescue operations.
  • Administer emergency medical techniques, including advanced life support, and respond to emergency medical calls.
  • Participate in training and drills to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
  • Work effectively with other emergency responders and personnel to provide a high level of service to the community.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Virginia Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate or Paramedic certification required.
  • 2 years of ALS field EMS experience preferred.
  • Virginia Department of Fire Programs Firefighter I or NFPA 1001 equivalent certification required.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (minimum of class 2) required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to emergency situations. The employee must be able to lift and move patients, and perform strenuous physical tasks associated with firefighting and emergency medical services. The employee must also be able to wear personal protective equipment, including a full firefighting ensemble and self-contained breathing apparatus.
