Job Summary:

A Perinatal Sonographer at Kaiser Permanente performs high-risk diagnostic obstetrical sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in obstetric ultrasound and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations, including anatomy scans, growth assessments, biophysical profiles, and Doppler studies.

Prepares and maintains operational logs, schedules tests, and records test results.

Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.

Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information, and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate clinician.

Assists with daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, maintains ultrasound equipment, and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.

Reviews patients' medical records to obtain required information, instructs patients in preparing for examination, and explains procedures to be performed.

Requirements:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in obstetric ultrasound.

Graduate of an AMA-approved ultrasonography program.

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required at hire.

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in Ob-Gyn required within 12 months of hire.

Nuchal Translucency Certification Certificate required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in ultrasonography.

Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work unsupervised and perform exams independently.

Basic PC skills, including keyboarding and navigation.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to contracted hospitals to complete ultrasound scans.
