Meat Department Associate

Mackenthun's Fine Foods is seeking a skilled Meat Department Associate to join our team. As a Meat Department Associate, you will be responsible for performing various tasks in the meat department, including cutting, wrapping, and pricing meat products.
Key Responsibilities- Stock refrigerated and freezer cases and shelves, rotating products for freshness.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize meat equipment to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Responsible for safe food handling, organization of the work area, and clean-up, including trash, compost, and recycling disposal.
- Assist in the homemade sausage kitchen, weighing, packaging, and pricing meat items.
- Assist the meat manager with ordering and maintaining an organized cooler.
- Assist with selling events and other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous meat processing, retail, or food service experience preferred.
- Must be skilled in basic math and able to clearly speak, read, and write the English language.
- Provide supervision as needed to ensure excellent customer service and personal productivity.
- Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage, and spoils.
- Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources, and image.
- Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member.
This position requires constant standing, walking, hearing, and seeing for long periods of time. While cutting meat, constant use of hands, wrists, and arms is required. Frequent bending at the waist, reaching with hands and arms, and reaching above shoulders/below waist, crouching, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 2500 lbs with the use of a pallet jack.
Training and EquipmentTraining will be provided on Mackenthun's Meat Department Standards and processes, including equipment operation, food safety, personal safety, and harassment prevention. Equipment used includes a meat tumbler, cook tank, injector, patty machine, wrapper/sealer, slicer, band saw, hand saw, grinder, meat mixer/grinder, baler, compactor, ladders, lift truck, electric and non-electric pallet jack, sinks, knives, walk-in cooler and freezer, tenderizer, and box cutter.
Work EnvironmentThis position requires the ability to work with and around machine noise in hot or cold temperatures, on terrazzo flooring in a smoke-free facility in a multifaceted and fast-paced environment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals is also a requirement.
