About the Position
Travel Nurse Source is working with Origin Travel Nurses to find a qualified Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Pennsylvania.
Job Summary
As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will provide care for patients before, during, and after surgeries. You will be responsible for extending assistance to various types of surgical operations, setting up the operating room, instruments, and supplies, and observing patients during surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical operations and perform related work in the operating room
- Set up the operating room, instruments, and supplies
- Observe patients during surgical procedures
- Follow hospital policy and safety guidelines
- Gather all necessary supplies for the operation
- Keep the operating room sterilized
- Position and prepare patients on the operating table
- Ensure that the correct patient and site are being operated on, and the correct procedure is being performed
- Monitor patients' vital signs to detect anomalies
- Evaluate patients in postoperative phases
- Assume duties within or outside the sterile field as assigned
- Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol
- Chart in the EMR system and document supplies from the medication dispensing system
Additional Responsibilities
- Scrub RN: Select and handle instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to the surgeon, and inventorying all items before and after surgery
- RN First Assist: Deliver direct surgical care by assisting surgeons, controlling bleeding, providing wound exposure, and suturing patients after surgery
