Job Summary

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking a highly skilled Epidemiologist to join our team in Topeka. As an Epidemiologist, you will provide critical support to our Injury and Violence Prevention Programs, including the CORE State Injury Prevention Program and the Kansas Sexual Violence Prevention Education Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews and analyze existing data sources to inform program development and evaluation.
  • Plan and implement new data collection strategies to measure the burden of unintentional and intentional injury in Kansas.
  • Disseminate results from data analysis through written reports, fact sheets, news releases, and other media.
  • Provide technical assistance to program staff for evaluation of program efforts.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant-related reports, including reporting of program objectives, epidemiology, and evaluation sections.

Requirements

  • Master's of Public Health or Master's of Science degree.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to develop proposals for program interventions and apply scientific concepts in injury prevention programs.
  • Knowledge of public health law and regulation principles, program evaluation data analysis, and epidemiologic data analysis using SAS program.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
