Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the construction process on assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.

Main Responsibilities
  • Embody the company's safety culture and support all safety initiatives.
  • Ensure underground utility locates are completed and valid, and sites are safe for employees prior to performing work.
  • Work with project managers to oversee organization and coordination of crews, subcontractors, resources, and equipment.
  • Allocate resources to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope, and quality objectives.
  • Provide direction to foremen responsible for coordinating daily activities of assigned crew and equipment.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Engage in open communication with project and operations managers, and report any issues that could affect project plans.
  • Attend internal and external pre-construction meetings and project site meetings as required.
  • Oversee coordination of materials and ensure on-time delivery of materials to job sites.
  • Oversee and promote employee training, mentoring, and development.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Complete and submit paperwork, reporting, and perform other administrative tasks related to project completion and/or employee supervision in a timely manner.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in construction management, civil engineering, business, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Valid Drivers' License and ability to maintain a clean driving history required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in road, bridge, concrete construction, asphalt paving, and/or related area.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry requirements.
  • Basic experience with project estimation and cost analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety regulations, project plans, and related materials.
  • Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working under pressure of deadlines.
  • Computer and/or mobile device experience, including use of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Android and iOS applications; ability to learn new programs related to role.
  • Ability to plan and organize and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization, clients, vendors, and other representatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device.
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more), and walking across uneven terrain.
  • Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions.
  • Some exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals.
  • Frequent travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required.
