Position Overview

Opportunity Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will engage in teaching and supporting students with diverse learning needs. This role involves crafting lesson plans, conducting assessments, gathering and interpreting data, and providing ongoing assistance to ensure students reach their academic goals. In addition to delivering educational content, the Special Education Teacher will act as a mentor and guide for students. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive instructional materials, including lesson plans, curriculum enhancements, and performance evaluations, in accordance with educational standards and Individual Education Plan (IEP) specifications.
  • Foster the social-emotional development of students to enhance their readiness for future academic and career opportunities, providing individualized support as necessary.
  • Engage in regular professional development activities to enhance teaching practices.
  • Participate in supervision and evaluation processes aligned with established educational objectives.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators, including ESL instructors and general education teachers, to ensure all students receive appropriate support.
  • Analyze student performance data to tailor instruction and address individual learning requirements.
  • Provide integrated support across various subjects as needed.
  • Educate staff on the unique needs of each student on the caseload and coordinate necessary academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Draft Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and attend relevant meetings regarding students' educational progress, maintaining comprehensive records of all interactions.
  • Monitor the holistic progress of students on the caseload and communicate updates to parents or guardians.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians through various means.
  • Assist with school duties as required by administrative staff.
  • Exhibit a commitment to academic excellence within the classroom environment.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to promote their academic success.
  • Coordinate with school leadership and support staff regarding student needs.


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • At least one year of experience in a student-focused role is preferred.
  • Bilingual/Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • A deep commitment to understanding student needs and prioritizing their educational experience.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving educational landscape.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting the qualifications for the position and passing a background check.
