Job Overview

The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in supporting food production and meal preparation for the residents. This position requires adherence to seasonal menus and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of culinary quality and flavor. Responsibilities also include preparing additional meals as authorized by management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize seasonal menus and standardized recipes to accurately determine food quantities for each meal and snack.
  • Follow prescribed dietary guidelines during food preparation and service, ensuring proper food handling practices are observed.
  • Maintain exemplary personal hygiene and consistently implement food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Assist in the receipt, inspection, and storage of food supplies as necessary.
  • Thoroughly clean all kitchenware, including dishes, pans, utensils, and trays after each service.
  • Handle kitchen equipment responsibly, adhering to safety protocols and performing routine cleaning and maintenance.
  • Complete designated cleaning tasks to ensure a sanitary kitchen environment on a daily basis.
  • Record daily food and equipment temperature readings accurately.
  • Perform additional duties related to food production and meal preparation as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in large-scale cooking and preparing specialized diets.

Certifications:

  • Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening is mandatory.
  • Food handler's certification is preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as required by the role.
  • Frequent handling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasional handling of items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposure to potential hazards such as cuts, burns, and slip-and-fall risks in a kitchen environment.
  • Work is conducted in a well-lit, clean kitchen and dishwashing area, which may experience high temperatures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in reading and writing in English.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are essential.

Successful candidates will undergo a background check, physical examination, and pre-employment drug screening.
