Job Summary:


The City of New York is seeking a skilled Computer Specialist to join the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in the role of Security Engineering Unit. This position is located at the DEP office in Valhalla, New York.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform security system troubleshooting, setup, and maintenance in both office and field settings.
  • Collaborate with the Security System Administrator and/or contractors to resolve security system issues.
  • Provide technical support for computers and security systems to end users across NYC and upstate NY locations.
  • Develop documentation, spreadsheets, or database applications to support the Security Engineering Unit.
  • Participate in security system planning, testing, and rollout of newly integrated locations.

Requirements:



  • A baccalaureate degree in computer science or a related field, with 24 semester credits, and 2 years of software experience in designing, programming, or systems analysis and design.
  • A satisfactory combination of education and experience can also be considered.
  • Expertise in MS SQL Server administration and Transact-SQL is required.
  • Familiarity with electronic access control/intrusion detection systems, CCTV, or electronics is a plus.
