We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Registered Nurse to join our Cancer Center team. As a key member of our interprofessional healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care, lead by example, and contribute to the development of our nursing practice.
Responsibilities- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, including those with complex needs, and demonstrate expertise in oncology nursing.
- Leadership: Assume leadership responsibilities, including coaching and mentoring department staff, and contributing to the development of our nursing practice.
- Quality and Safety: Model the standards of care related to the nursing process, identify areas for practice improvement, and contribute to the development of service line and clinical standards.
- Education and Training: Develop and implement effective patient teaching strategies, and serve as a clinical resource for department staff.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing, or Associate's degree with an additional two years of nursing experience.
- Experience: Three years of nursing experience, with one year in oncology preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 90 days, BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA), and other credentials and certifications as defined by department/service line.
- Communication: Demonstrates effective communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
- Leadership: Exhibits leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and role modeling.
- Critical Thinking: Utilizes critical thinking skills to work autonomously and make decisions related to patient care.
- Time Management: Demonstrates proficient time management skills, including prioritization of tasks and minimization of incidental overtime.
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and a high level of patient acuity. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of professionalism and composure in challenging situations.
