Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff at McCrite Plaza, a family-owned and operated Five Star Community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct resident care as assigned, including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
  • Administer medications as directed and perform nursing care tasks as noted below:
    • Answer call lights within a designated timeframe.
    • Give care to all residents assigned, make rounds on all residents, and check soiled linens and side rails.
    • Change incontinent residents, wash and dry soiled residents, and walk ambulatory residents.
    • Give tub baths, showers, or bed baths to residents, complete oral hygiene and toileting, and turn and reposition all bed and chair residents.
    • Place bedpans, linens, washbasins, and soiled linens in proper areas, complete charting on residents, and empty and record all urinary drainage units.
  • Review care plans, update and document nurse aide flow sheets with relevant information, and document in nursing assistant notes and nurse aide flow sheets the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident's response or lack of response to care provided.
  • Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance from the Charge Nurse, identify special resident problems, and report them immediately to the Charge Nurse.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and other facility meetings as assigned, and participate in the development of an individualized plan of resident care for residents as assigned.
Shift-Specific Duties
  • Day Shift:
    • Take residents to the dining room and assist in feeding if assigned.
    • Serve breakfast and/or lunch trays and assist residents that are unable to feed themselves.
    • Remove trays from resident rooms and return them to the dishwashing area.
    • Ensure that residents are offered nourishment.
    • Roll beds down.
  • Evening Shift:
    • Prepare residents for bed.
    • Serve evening meal trays and assist residents that are unable to feed themselves.
    • Remove trays from resident rooms and return them to the dishwashing area.
    • Ensure that residents are offered nourishment.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in a similar working environment is preferred.
  • A certificate as a Nurse Aide and/or Medical Assistant in the State of Kansas and to be listed as a Nurse Aide and/or Medical Assistant in the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Registry.
