Diagnostic Technologist Opportunity

UPMC Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to support their team. This role involves working 4 9.5-hour shifts, Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:00pm, with a set weekday off after orientation. The position will primarily be based at the Cranberry/Mars office but will require frequent travel to the North Hills/Passavant location, with travel reimbursement and free parking provided.

About the Role

This is a fast-paced, high-volume, multispecialty practice with a focus on musculoskeletal care. As a Diagnostic Technologist, you will work directly with the Orthopedic division, assisting physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with office hours. This will be a cross-trained position covering both radiology and clinical duties, requiring you to obtain high-quality films based on provider protocols while following ALARA principles.

Responsibilities
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.
  • Ensure all exams within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision.
  • Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to interact with patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and show initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic radiography purposes.
  • Communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help alleviate their fears and solicit their cooperation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from an ARRT-approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
  • ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS Required CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
