We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Professional to join our team as an Accountant II. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interface with other departments to identify issues and ensure timely resolutions.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality of university information.
- Support departmental efforts to automate and streamline procedures and practices.
- Collect and record daily bank deposits.
- Maintain and reconcile cash box.
- All aspects of Accounts Payable and secondary requisition approvals.
- Reviews and approves requisitions for budgetary appropriateness and fund availability.
- Reconciles the clearing of all issued travel cash advances.
- Performs miscellaneous account reconciliations.
- Prepares due diligence process for individual Escheats correspondences.
- Reconciles and reviews labor distribution report for payroll.
- Prepares report summary for annual workers compensation audit.
- Prepares various payroll reports for Internal Revenue Service (941 quarterly reports).
- Works closely with and maintains knowledge of payroll journal entries and accounts payable processes.
- Processes payroll direct deposit.
- Maintains O&M allocations worksheet monthly.
- Compiles and maintains information relating to employee and other benefits.
- Records journal entries for payments of Federal and State payroll taxes and retirement payments.
- Collaborates with external auditors on year-end auditing.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred with at least one-year accounting experience.
- Familiarity with accounting software enhancements and relevant State and Federal regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
