Amergis is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to join our team for a 13-week contract in Newburgh, Indiana. As a Surgical Services Nurse, you will be responsible for scrubbing and/or circulating duties for operative procedures, department admissions to the operative suite, and maintaining a safe patient care environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate aseptic techniques and adhere to standards and appropriate aseptic techniques.
  • Set up rooms for surgical procedures, identify instrumentation and supplies, and pull correct instruments and supplies.
  • Assist the scrubbed team with additional staff, supplies, procedures, and other services.
  • Participate in all instrument, sponge counts, and other counts as designated by the facility's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update surgeon's procedure preference cards as changes occur.
  • Maintain supplies in assigned operating rooms.
  • Foster a cooperative effort in meeting the goals of nursing and sharing the workload.
  • Communicate a positive and caring attitude toward the area, peers, staff, patients, and other contacts.
  • Recognize and utilize appropriate lines of communication.
  • Accurately communicate needs to co-workers and supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patients, and hospital-related communications/documents.
  • Maintain clinical skills and expand knowledge base through participation in continuous education programs.
  • Assume responsibility for self-development.
  • Seek to obtain a level 3 proficiency in his/her area(s) of clinical expertise.
  • Keep informed of changes in practice through organizational participation and/or reading current literature.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state in which he/she practices.
  • Documentation and confirmation of one year of operating room clinical experience in an acute care hospital within the last three years preferred.
  • Current BLS card.
  • Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Physical dexterity and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform all required duties.
  • Current Health Certificate (if applicable).
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
  • Successful completion of the Amergis Staffing Solutions testing process.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks.
  • Guaranteed Hours per Week: 40 hours.
  • Location: Newburgh, Indiana.
  • Shift: 10hr Days Friday-Monday blocked.
  • On Call/Call-Back: On call 1x/week and every 6th weekend. 30 minute response time.
  • Weekend: Every weekend.
  • Holiday: As Scheduled.
