Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at OrthoIllinois. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, anticipating their needs and providing support as needed.
  • Maintain a sterile environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols and guidelines.
  • Inventory and monitor instruments, sponges, and needles on the operative field, ensuring accurate counts and preventing errors.
  • Participate in the preparation and maintenance of surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring they are up-to-date and in good working order.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination during surgical procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; successful completion of a surgical tech program or equivalent experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience as a surgical technician or similar role preferred.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to biohazard materials, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to the operating room environment. Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and climbing stairs. Must possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder, and finger dexterity.
