Job Summary:We are looking for a skilled researcher to manage transgenic mouse colonies, perform routine biochemical and molecular biology experiments, and design and execute studies in mouse models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences and experience working with rodents.
Responsibilities:- Manage transgenic mouse colonies, including breeding and genotyping.
- Perform routine biochemical, molecular biology, and confocal microscopy experiments.
- Design and execute studies in mouse models.
- Generate and maintain primary cell cultures.
- Perform data analysis and record keeping.
- Participate in grant and manuscript writing.
- Present findings at national and international meetings.
- Mentor trainees as needed.
- Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) in biological/biochemical science or related field or must have at least four years of research experience in a related field.
- Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) in biological/biochemical science or related field or must have a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience.
- Hands-on experience working with rodents.
- Proficiency in designing, executing, and analyzing in vivo experiments.
- Experience with standard molecular and cell biology techniques including cell culture, western blotting, microscopy, PCR, genotyping, cloning.
Applicants must have obtained the degree requirement for the Specialist rank by the time of hire. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training. See Table 24B for the salary range for this position.
