Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, recognized as the leading custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to enhance our operational efficiency.

The Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in identifying procurement requirements, evaluating suppliers, and managing the purchasing process to ensure the seamless operation of Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services. This position involves a thorough assessment of vendors, products, and services, with a focus on negotiating advantageous agreements that align with operational needs. The primary objective is to optimize cost savings while enhancing overall operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting comprehensive research and analysis of suppliers, products, and services.
  • Identifying and selecting the most reliable suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assessing purchasing requirements.
  • Generating reports to forecast the quantity and timing of wine packaging purchases based on long-term production plans, utilizing the company’s ERP system as necessary.
  • Utilizing NetSuite to create planning reports when applicable.
  • Collaborating with the Winemaking and Cellar departments to procure ingredients, materials, and necessary supplies.
  • Soliciting cost estimates and negotiating terms and pricing with suppliers.
  • Creating reports to analyze total landed costs for essential materials.
  • Preparing and managing purchase orders efficiently.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions, including purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Coordinating and confirming delivery schedules for purchases.
  • Developing financial reports to support budgeting and accounting processes.
  • Establishing and nurturing positive, long-term relationships with suppliers.
  • Exemplifying and promoting a company culture that prioritizes safety, teamwork, and customer satisfaction through the delivery of high-quality products and services.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a purchasing agent or in a comparable role is essential, with specific experience in the wine industry.
  • Proficiency in ERP and inventory management software is necessary.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities are essential.
  • Robust research and analytical skills are necessary.
