Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Teamwork
    • Develop and maintain a high-performance work culture by demonstrating a positive attitude and modeling the City's mission, vision, and values.
    • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance
    • Operate a variety of motorized equipment and power tools, including air compressors, chain saws, pole saws, and weed trimmers.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Grounds Maintenance and Beautification
    • Plant trees and shrubbery, seed, mow, fertilize, water, and weed lawns.
    • Trim trees and coordinate funeral activities with funeral directors and family members.
  • Record Keeping and Customer Service
    • Maintain accurate and current records of deeds and business transactions relative to burials.
    • Provide excellent customer service to families and funeral home directors.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical school training preferred.
    • Substantial work experience in performing comparable duties with similar equipment and tools.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to read and understand cemetery maps.
    • Knowledge and skill in the use of hand and power tools, light and heavy equipment used in the maintenance of grounds and tree removal.
    • Ability to follow established safety rules and departmental policies and procedures.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time and be available for emergency call-in on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
