Palliative Medicine Advanced Practice Provider

As a Palliative Medicine Advanced Practice Provider, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that focuses on improving the quality of life of patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains to manage patients with high symptom burden, poor quality of life, psychosocial distress, and complex advanced care planning needs.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments, and non-pharmacological therapies.
  • Teach and counsel individuals, families, and groups, and perform minor procedures as approved by the AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs.
Qualifications
  • Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program, or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Current AZ RN and APRN license, and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP, or PA certification by NCCPA.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross and DEA registration required.
