Salary Range: $52,000 - $56,000 Annually
About Shelter House:
Shelter House has been a pivotal organization since 1981, addressing the homelessness crisis in Fairfax County. Our mission has evolved to meet the diverse needs of the community, collaborating with governmental and private entities, as well as community members. Currently, we are a dedicated team of over 100 professionals committed to eradicating homelessness and domestic violence, having positively impacted nearly 2,000 individuals in the past year, including many children.

Role Responsibilities:
- Formulate Housing First-oriented service plans tailored to the unique housing needs of clients.
- Conduct assessments of clients' physical, mental health, social needs, life skills, employment history, educational requirements, safety, strengths, and other pertinent areas to collaboratively identify necessary support for achieving housing objectives.
- Provide crisis intervention and develop personalized safety plans; assist domestic violence victims in legal processes and accompany them to various appointments.
- Facilitate coordination among mental health professionals, service providers, advocates, and the legal system.
- Assist clients in their housing search and help them create and maintain a budget.
- Establish and maintain relationships with landlords to negotiate lease terms and advocate for clients.
- Disseminate information regarding tenant rights, housing discrimination, and maintenance responsibilities.
- Oversee the distribution of rental assistance and maintain accurate records of all payments.
- Stay informed about issues related to homelessness and domestic violence.
- Collaborate with the Senior Case Manager to ensure compliance with agency standards and HUD regulations.
- Document all client interactions in accordance with agency and best practice standards.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as directed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office products effectively in daily tasks.
- Embody the core values of Shelter House in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the program and organization.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in case management or direct services within a non-profit setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions.
- Capability to complete tasks amidst frequent interruptions.
- Creative problem-solving skills to address unique challenges.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Valid Driver's License and dependable transportation.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours as necessary.
Preferred:
- Experience working with clients facing homelessness, domestic violence, or mental health/substance abuse issues.
- Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Annual TB testing is mandatory.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift items weighing between 10-20 pounds.
