At Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room Scrub Technician to join our surgical team. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgical team during procedures, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and the ability to take corrective action when necessary.
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring the efficient and safe handling of all sharps and instruments.
- Provide complete and accurate communication to all members of the surgical team, demonstrating fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination necessary to handle small intricate surgical instruments and supplies.
- Maintain accurate counts of all supplies, suture, and sponge items on the sterile field.
- Orient new staff to the ORST role and provide on-call coverage for the department as designated by the manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technologists.
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Minimum of 2 years current Operating Room scrub technician experience.
