Our facility features a state-of-the-art CVOR with six surgical suites, including specialized angio and hybrid suites. The proficient CVOR team collaborates with surgeons and anesthesiologists to provide exceptional care for patients undergoing various cardiac and vascular procedures. Availability during off-hours, holidays, and weekends with on-call responsibilities is essential. We also coordinate with sister facilities to provide support as needed.
SHIFT DETAILS
Employment Type: Full-time
Hours per Week: 40 hours (5 shifts of 8 hours)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
On Call: 1-2 weekends per month, with a minimum of 3 call shifts per departmental rotation.
Compensation: Flat rate of $5/hour for on-call, $3/hour weekend shift differential, and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for patients, adhering to organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The nurse is accountable for the quality of care provided by themselves and those under their supervision. Specialized knowledge and nursing skills are utilized to assess data and deliver appropriate care tailored to the physical and developmental needs of patients.
The Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse assists physicians with advanced tasks and equipment during surgical procedures, including the use of cardiopulmonary bypass machines, trans-esophageal echocardiograms, and vascular access interventions. Proficiency in performing and interpreting various cardiac and vascular lab tests is required.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assess the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs of patients. Review patient history and physical assessments with patients and families, ensuring timely completion. Analyze available information from other healthcare team members and report abnormal diagnostic results to physicians and appropriate caregivers. Conduct assessments and reassessments based on patient needs and policies.
2. Develop a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the healthcare team. Establish realistic and measurable goals in collaboration with patients and families, considering their unique needs.
3. Implement the care plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of care while promoting continuity of care through effective communication with other caregivers.
4. Evaluate patient and family responses to care and education, adjusting the care plan as necessary. Collaborate with the healthcare team to assess patient progress towards goals and outcomes.
5. Document all aspects of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility and timeliness in accordance with policy.
6. Provide care based on the best available evidence and engage in research activities within clinical practice. Participate in shared leadership initiatives within the unit or facility.
