Job Description

Job Summary

As a Diner Supervisor at Avantic Lodging Enterprises, you will be responsible for leading a team of dedicated professionals to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests. Your primary goal will be to exceed guest expectations for food quality, friendliness, cleanliness, and service in a fun atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the service effort during busy meal periods by working at the cash register, greeting incoming guests, identifying service or production bottlenecks, and taking action to alleviate them.
  • Train and empower employees to take service-recovery actions, ensuring that all guests receive a positive experience.
  • Organize training for new hires, ensuring that all team members complete certification within 30 days.
  • Develop and implement a monthly training plan to address current operational needs, focusing on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Effectively delegate cleaning and side work responsibilities using designated shift supervisors, maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment at all times.
  • Form a Diner Sales Committee, including management, shift leaders, at least one cook, and at least one server, to evaluate the impact of current specials and promotions and plan future initiatives.
  • Motivate team members to achieve monthly bonus goals by posting Sales vs. Budget daily, encouraging them to take actions to build sales and control costs.
  • Actively participate in community and civic affairs in the local area, promoting the diner's presence and reputation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is necessary.
  • Valid driver's license issued by the state in which the diner is located, and ability to pass a drug screen and insurance standards upon review of past motor vehicle history.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance, cost control procedures, and purchasing is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and guests, as well as effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.

Working Conditions

The Diner Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, subject to inside environmental conditions, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The associate will be required to stand for long periods, walk distances, and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs, and reaching.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Finger Dexterity/Grasping: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

Education and Experience
