Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Residential Child Care Investigator to join our team at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. As a key member of our Child Care Investigations unit, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect in residential childcare facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and promoting sound residential childcare practices in accordance with Texas licensing law and Minimum Standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect in residential childcare facilities, assessing the facility's compliance with Minimum Standards and Texas licensing law.
• Document findings and prepare reports on investigations, including testimony in criminal and civil courts as needed.
• Collaborate with administrative and professional staff, other state agencies, law enforcement entities, and the general public to promote effective child care practices and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including facility administrators, caregivers, and community partners.
• Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in child care and child welfare, applying this knowledge to inform investigations and recommendations.
Requirements:
• Thorough knowledge of the Family Code, Texas Child Care Licensing Act, and other relevant laws and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including children, families, and professionals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as social work, child development, or a related field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in child care or a related field.
