Position Summary:
The Air Quality Systems Technician will be tasked with the thorough cleaning and maintenance of air distribution systems. The ideal candidate will possess a background in light commercial HVAC systems and experience in air duct cleaning and refurbishing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize and manage all equipment related to duct cleaning.
- Access, disassemble, and clean components of air distribution systems.
- Promote additional products and services during the duct cleaning process.
- Complete all job-related documentation promptly.
- Ensure the company vehicle is organized and well-stocked. Perform refurbishing tasks on Air Handling Units, which includes cleaning and sanitizing, upgrading filters, applying coatings, and replacing coils, motors, and bearings as necessary.
- Build and maintain customer relationships by addressing concerns, identifying solutions, and recommending system enhancements.
- Maintain personal equipment by adhering to operating guidelines, troubleshooting issues, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Document all service and cleaning activities through forms, reports, and logs. Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities and professional literature.
- Contribute to the overall mission of the organization by achieving related results as required.
- Completion of a Technical/Trade School program with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, or two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated reliability and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment screenings, including background checks and drug testing.
- Basic knowledge of duct mechanics and its impact on Indoor Air Quality; mechanical experience is advantageous.
The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Frequent walking, reaching, and bending are also required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position involves working in various environments, including outdoors and mechanical rooms, and may expose the employee to extreme weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and heavy equipment. The employee may also encounter wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes, and vibrations, with occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
