Job Summary

Rhodes State College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security and Safety Professional to join our team on a part-time basis. As a Security and Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security and Safety Services: Provide security and assistance to all campus community members, including students, faculty, and staff. Conduct routine rounds or checks of buildings, walkways, grounds, and parking lots to ensure the safety and security of the campus.
  • Incident Response: Respond to calls for service, including crimes, traffic crashes, and medical emergencies on campus. Make notifications to law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical service agencies as needed.
  • Building Security: Lock down buildings, labs, classrooms, and offices at night or when the campus is closed. Open buildings as needed and check locked buildings to ensure their security.
  • Investigations: Investigate suspicious activity and make notifications to law enforcement if necessary.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Make Safety and Security log entries, reports, and maintenance requests as required.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for this position.
  • Positive Interpersonal Skills: The ability to deal positively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the general public is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Law Enforcement Experience: Previous law enforcement experience and OPOTA certification are preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR: Knowledge of first aid and CPR is also preferred.
Education and Certifications
  • High School Diploma: A high school diploma is required for this position.
  • Associate Degree: A two-year Associate Degree or its equivalent is preferred.
