About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Consultant to join our team at the Department of Public Health. As a key member of our Facility Licensing and Investigations Section, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services in our state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site inspections of healthcare facilities and institutions to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to healthcare providers on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate the quality of services provided by healthcare facilities and institutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve healthcare quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Four years of experience as a professional nurse in a position involving administration, consultation, education, or supervision.
  • Two years of experience in a public health nursing program, home health care agency, community health care setting, or in a hospital.
  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for one year of the general experience.
  • A Master's degree in health services administration, nursing, or public health may be substituted for one additional year of the general experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience organizing data and evaluating and analyzing proper care and treatment in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and professional standards in healthcare.
  • Experience with computerized data bases, electronic medical records, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with conducting investigations and documenting facts, findings, and outcomes.
  • Experience with independently interviewing consumers, healthcare providers, and healthcare beneficiaries.
