Job Summary

Nemours Children's Hospital Orlando is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac CRNA to join our anesthesia care team. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with anesthesiologists to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality anesthesia services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform individualized pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients, including review of consultations, history, and physicals, and relevant diagnostic studies.
  • Select, obtain, order, and administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids, and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Develop and implement anesthetic plans based on patients' physiological responses.
  • Initiate anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, local, and sedation, and select, apply, and inset appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of patients' physical status.
  • Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, and ventilation support.
  • Provide appropriate handoff communication to receiving units postoperatively, e.g., PACU, NICU/PICU.
  • Implement acute and chronic pain modalities individualized to patients.
  • Discharge patients from the post-anesthesia care area and provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care as appropriate.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Appropriately document pertinent information in patients' electronic medical records, providing timely and accurate anesthetic records.
  • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists to monitor and evaluate quality of patient care and participate in department quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings and activities.
  • Perform duties within the scope of practice in the state of Florida, practicing according to personal expertise, regulatory requirements, and hospital policy.
  • Prioritize patient care issues and respond accordingly.
  • Practice within regulatory requirements as defined by Joint Commission, American Society of Anesthesia Position Statements, and ACHA.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
  • Graduate from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor.
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse License.
  • Current Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Current Certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor, with biannual recertification required.
  • AHA BLS, PALS, and ACLS required.
