The Office of the Chief Financial Officer - Treasury division is seeking applications for the position of Auditor I.

Position Overview

The Auditor I role encompasses positions that utilize professional accounting and auditing expertise, standards, and principles to execute various responsibilities, including:
- Assisting in or conducting systematic evaluations of financial records, corporate and individual tax returns, receipts, and bookkeeping practices.
- Performing compliance reviews of income tax returns and clearance applications.
- Engaging in performance audits and investigations related to fraud detection, waste, and abuse.

This role also involves applying relevant laws, regulations, and rulings related to taxation to guide and advise individual and business taxpayers on their tax obligations.


Key Responsibilities

As an Auditor I in the Tax Policy and Compliance division, you will focus on Desk Audits, where you will:

  • Conduct compliance reviews of income tax returns and clearance applications.
  • Assist in individual or utility users tax audits and related projects.
  • Examine financial records and bookkeeping practices of businesses under audit.

This entry-level position requires effective communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with accounting software, including Oracle ERP and integrated tax systems.


Essential Qualifications

To qualify for the Auditor I position, candidates must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a focus on accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, including at least 24 semester credits in accounting.
  • Advanced degrees in relevant fields are preferred but not mandatory.

No prior work experience is required for entry into this role; however, one year of experience in examining accounting or financial records is preferred.


Evaluation Process

The evaluation will consist of:

  • Interview: 70%
  • Assessment of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications: 30%

Additional points may be awarded for veteran status and residency credit.
