Position Description
The Kavli Center for Ethics, Science, and the Public at UC Berkeley is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to address the ethical dimensions of scientific advancements. The center is committed to developing a new generation of scholars who can navigate the complexities of ethical implications in science and technology. As part of the Graduate and Postdoc Fellowship Program, the successful candidate will join a vibrant community of researchers dedicated to bridging disciplinary divides and engaging with societal stakeholders.
Research Focus
The selected postdoctoral fellow will concentrate on the intersection of artificial intelligence, ethics, and public discourse. This role involves identifying and addressing ethical challenges posed by AI technologies, particularly in relation to public engagement and stakeholder involvement. Projects may focus on enhancing dialogue between scientists, ethicists, policymakers, and the public to foster a more inclusive approach to ethical AI development.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct independent research on ethical issues related to AI and its societal implications.
- Engage in collaborative projects that promote interdisciplinary dialogue and understanding.
- Participate in center activities, including seminars and workshops, to share insights and foster community.
- Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.
- Develop and execute outreach initiatives aimed at engaging diverse stakeholders in discussions about ethical AI.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
