As a Yard Jockey Driver, you will be responsible for loading and moving materials within the yard for a mulch and soil manufacturer. This is a high-activity role that requires availability to work overtime hours as needed in a fast-paced operation.
Key Responsibilities- Select and stage trailers for loading and transport, as well as maneuver trailers in and out of tight spaces.
- Perform routine pre- and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Properly secure and strap heavy loads for travel, and demonstrate proficiency in Forklift Certification Training.
- Successfully complete Decision Driving Safety course, including written test and observed road test.
- Check all load-related documentation (logs and records) for completeness and accuracy.
- Physically fit to climb and perform, able to distinguish proper inventory via SKUs and labeling, and communicate effectively with dispatch, Scale House, and shipping departments.
- Able to work independently, possess great attention to detail, and cross-train to support site needs throughout the year in Machine/Forklift/Heavy Equipment Operating positions.
- Willingness to adhere to all Company Safety Policies, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of truck driving experience.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. from the ground level.
- Capability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and whole body, including bending, crouching, climbing, using steps and ladders, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
