Position Overview
The Sterile Processing Specialist is responsible for executing tasks and procedures that ensure the centralized processing of surgical instruments, thereby contributing to the delivery of high-quality and safe patient care. These responsibilities are carried out in a manner that prioritizes cost-effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment for cleanliness and operational functionality; maintains an inventory and records the quantity of each instrument per tray or container.

• Prepares trays and products for sterilization following established policies and procedures.

• Confirms sterilization processes on the designated documentation for quality assurance purposes.

• Cleans and reprocesses all equipment and operating room instruments upon receipt, utilizing cleaning agents and chemicals in compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

• Safely returns equipment to the decontamination area in a sanitary manner.


Essential Qualifications

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician: CSPDT or CRCST or eligibility for certification.

• A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of practical experience in a Sterile Processing role.

• Basic proficiency in computer skills.

• Capability to walk or stand for extended periods, with the ability to lift, push, and pull as necessary.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
