Job Title: Planning Engineer

Job Summary:

As a Planning Engineer at Mindlance, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of the electric power grid. You will provide engineering analysis and technical support to ensure compliance with NERC Standards, protocols, and market guides.

You will be responsible for implementing system modeling, developing tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, performing system studies, analyzing simulated or actual operating results, and developing solutions to current or future system issues.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply principles, theories, and concepts related to electrical engineering and Mindlance's culture.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Impact is generally limited to specific assignments or projects.
  • May respond to inquiries and/or provide assistance and/or guidance to lower-level workers.
  • Additional responsibilities include serving as a technical Subject Matter Expert for the department, making independent decisions, and working on complex engineering issues.
  • May coordinate, provide presentations, and participate in stakeholder meetings with Mindlance personnel, Market Participants, and industry Regulatory agencies.
  • Foster and leverage strong working relationships with team and other internal departments.
  • Lend professional expertise to guide projects and help teammates assigned by manager.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor to less experienced engineers/analysts.
  • Lead multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments, and perform studies.
  • Demonstrate skills as an expert user of power system software applications and tools, spreadsheet programs, and database programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and industry best practices.

Requirements:
  • Requires minimum 5 years job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Required).
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required.
  • PE Professional Engineer (Preferred).
