Southern Nazarene University is seeking a highly qualified Dissertation Chair to support the success of our doctoral students. As a key member of our academic team, you will play a vital role in guiding learners through the dissertation process, providing expert guidance and support to ensure their research is of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Dissertation Directors: Work closely with our Dissertation Directors to understand dissertation expectations and ensure a seamless support process for our learners.
  • Develop and Execute Research Plans: Assist learners in developing the structural components of their dissertation, including topic, problem statement, theoretical framework, purpose statement, research questions, research method, and research design.
  • Support Research Collection and Analysis: Guide learners through the research collection and analysis phase, ensuring they have the necessary tools and expertise to produce high-quality research.
  • Lead Dissertation Proposal and Defense Hearings: Participate in and lead dissertation proposal and defense hearings, providing expert feedback and guidance to learners.
  • Provide Emotional and Spiritual Support: Offer emotional and spiritual support to learners as needed, helping them navigate the challenges of the dissertation process.
Qualifications
  • Terminal Degree: Hold a terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in Research Support: Possess a minimum of two years of experience in research support, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex research concepts to learners.
  • Technical Skills: Be proficient in using Google products, particularly Google Documents, and have knowledge of APA 7th Edition.
