Marketing Innovator for Pet Industry

At Central Garden & Pet Company, a leading innovator and marketer of quality branded products, we are seeking a skilled Marketing Innovator to join our team. With a strong focus on consumer-driven innovation and consumer insights-based content, we aim to fuel our growth aspiration through strategic marketing initiatives.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Natural Treats (Cadet, Barkworthies, and Paw Love brands) Marketing Teams business unit, assisting in the development and execution of new product innovation, promotional activities, and consumer research. As a Marketing Innovator, you will support the Senior Director of Marketing, Brand Managers, and cross-functional teams in driving business success.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development of comprehensive launch plans for new products and line extensions, including customer presentations, 360-degree promotional plans, and marketing support
  • Collaborating with sales teams to develop compelling customer programming, participating in joint-business planning sessions, and identifying opportunities for growth
  • Leading cross-functional innovation teams to successfully navigate projects through the new product process, driving efficiency, and streamlining workflows
  • Developing and executing consumer, trade promotion, packaging updates, and sales materials to enhance brand visibility and drive sales
  • Working closely with the Digital Marketing Team to create insight-driven content that increases consumer purchases on shelf and via e-commerce/omnichannel platforms, web maintenance, and brand marketing initiatives
  • Managing multiple priorities and projects across the portfolio, ensuring timely and efficient completion
  • Actively participating in team brainstorms and meetings, contributing to innovative solutions, and sharing expertise across various functions
  • Conducting marketplace assessments, collecting competitive product information, tracking and summarizing competitive activity, consumer reviews, market share, and product specs/pricing/claims, leveraging data to inform marketing decisions
  • Supporting the execution of consumer research to learn and facilitate analysis, providing actionable insights to drive business growth
  • Coordinating sales analysis as needed, analyzing POS, Nielsen, and Profitero reports to identify trends and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining the product portfolio, managing products throughout their life cycle from new product launch to discontinuation
  • Representing the 'voice of the consumer' to the organization, ensuring that consumer needs and preferences are central to all marketing efforts
